The Ars Nova Musicians Orchestra

Recognized for their “inventive programming”, “musical finesse”, “sense of style”, and “warm full-bodied textures”, Ars Nova Musicians Chamber Orchestra has been selected frequently among The Buffalo News year-end Critic’s Choice reviews. They were the first local chamber ensemble to perform in Carnegie Recital Hall, where they garnered praise from The New York Times. Their two televised concert specials from Canisius College earned prestigious Peabody Award nominations and were broadcast nationwide over the PBS-TV network.

In addition to their hugely successful Annual Viva Vivaldi Festival, the orchestra lists the following highlights: Composer Marathons and two International Music Festivals at Artpark, Lewiston, NY, the 200 Years of American Music Series at Albright-Knox Art Gallery, a special presentation of women’s music at the Katherine Comell Theater, SUNY, Buffalo, Buffalo State’s impressive Rockwell Hall’s Festival of Five reopening celebration, the Artist in Residence Red Jacket Series at Trocaire College, Buffalo, NY, and the dedication concert for the opening of the Montante Cultural Center of Canisius College.

Most recently, praise for Ars Nova has come by way of their critically acclaimed CD recordings: Viva Vivaldi Festivals – A Retrospective, Volumes 1 and 2, Music of the Aire, Vivaldi’s Vicarious Visionaries and Vivaldi Vignettes. Their recording Tango Moods, a fusion CD featuring soprano saxophonist, Sal Andolina and in 2010 Ars Nova recorded A Musical Mosaic. All received four stars from the Buffalo News as well as accolades from the public at large.

Over the years, The Ars Nova has spotlighted a host of area musicians, choruses and ensembles whose talents abound. The group has led the way in unique choices of concert sites that have focused attention on the many architectural gems found in Western New York State. Conductor Nanna and The Ars Nova Musicians have been officially honored as “A Cultural Treasure” by the City of Buffalo and Erie County. They are proud to have attracted new audiences to the wonderful art form known as chamber music!
